Adding a Safe Site (internet explorer)
No matter how many times you try to get to that news site that you like so much, Internet Explorer is blocking you out! Sometimes innocent Web pages get caught up in the filters for Internet Explorer, and you need to mark them as "safe" before you can visit them or allow them to add cookies to your computer. Here's how to mark Web sites as "safe" in Internet Explorer.
Using Keyboard and Mouse
- Open the IE window either through the start menu, the quick start menu, or by double clicking on the Internet Explorer icon.
- Click on the “Tools” menu at the top of your screen or hold down “ALT” and hit “T” on your keyboard.
- Select “Internet Options” by clicking on it or by pressing the up and down keys until it is highlighted and hit ENTER.
- Click on the tab at the top of the pop-up menu that says “Privacy.”
- Click on the button that says “Sites.”
- Type the exact address of the Web site into the box provided and click “Allow.”
- Click “OK” to exit the “add Web site” page.
- Click the OK button to save your settings.
Using Keyboard Only
- If you do not have a mouse, complete steps 1–3.
- Pressing SHIFT and TAB should highlight the tab at the top that reads "General." Press the right arrow key until you have highlighted the privacy tab.
- Hit the tab key until “sites” is highlighted, and press ENTER to bring up the correct window.
- Type the exact address of the Web site into the box provided and hit TAB until you have highlighted “Allow.” Press ENTER.
- TAB until you have highlighted “OK,” then press ENTER to exit the “add Web site” page.
- TAB until you have highlighted the OK button, then press ENTER to save your settings.
