Level 2 Award in Dementia Awareness (QCF)

This online qualification forms part of a suite of qualifications in dementia care that have been developed to support government strategies to increase knowledge, understanding and skills of caring for individuals with dementia.

Qualification Overview

This qualification (QCF Reference 600/7268/4)supports the changing needs within the sector and are part of the Workforce Development Plan established through the National Dementia Strategy Project (England). Development of dementia awareness and understanding will both enhance the level of care provided to people with dementia and also the capacity of the sector to meet the potential increased demand for such provision.

It is suitable for those who are already working in care roles with individuals with dementia and has been designed to provide them with an opportunity to have their knowledge and skills recognised, thus supporting their career development and enabling further employment opportunities with existing or future employers.

This qualification can be used to prepare for employment and can be delivered as professional development for those who wish to gain knowledge in this specialist area of practice.
