Course Overview

This e-learning training course in Safeguarding Children aimed at people who are alerters and is suitable for all care staff.

It has been devised in line with Working Together to Safeguard Children (2010), the Safeguarding Children and Young People: Roles and Competences for Health Care Staff Intercollegiate Document April 2006 and the CWDC induction training programme for level 3/4 children's workforce practitioners (2008).

This e-learning training course also meets the underpinning knowledge learning outcomes for Standard 11 'Safeguarding Children' of the Care Certificate.

Course Topics Covered

  • Signs, symptoms and indicators of child abuse.
  • Local policies/procedures.
  • What to do if you have concerns.
  • What to do if they experience barriers to referring a child/family.
  • Which groups of children are at risk of harm or neglect.
  • Who to inform, seek advice from and how to contact them.
  • The importance of sharing information, how it can help and the dangers of not sharing information.
  • Who to inform, seek advice from and how to contact them.
  • Being aware of your own (and others') professional roles and boundaries.

  • 2 e-learning modules.
  • 1 mandatory online assessment.
  • Certificate.
