New Care Agency focused Induction programme to be launched in April 2007

Edgeworks today announced that the highly successful Online solution for Skills For Care Combined Induction is to be extended to include a programme designed especially for Care Agencies. The programme will be based on the same framework as the current Care Providers version but will include content on:

Dual Reporting.
The unique role of the Agency Worker.
Managing personal development in multiple assignments.
Additional Health and Safety requirements.

A single programme will cost a maximum of £50.00 ex VAT, with discounts available for volume purchases.

CIC learners pass 1,000 course completions within first 6 months

A new starter at Community Integrated Care (CIC) today completed the thousandth course since the CIC Care Academy went live. This has been achieved within 6 months of the programme launch and shows how well the management and new starters within CIC rate the programme. The CIC Care Academy alone sees over 100 course completions each week at present.

Offline Course Management - Version Upgrade

Edgeworks has today released a version upgrade to the current SKILLS365 Offline Course Management module used within the Care Academy.

Edgeworks Add Manager Sign Off Forms to Care Academy.

Edgeworks has added the ability to include online manager sign off forms to the Care Academy Induction programmes. These forms are the last part of the induction process and denotes a manager stating their carer is 'safe to work alone'.

Edgeworks Add Non - Care Workers Induction Programme to Care Academy.

Edgeworks has now added a Non-Care Workers Induction programme to the Care Academy. The programme addresses the needs of all individuals working in Care Homes that do not provide first line care and support. The programme builds on the Non-Care Workers Underpinning Knowledge Set to cover:

Introduction to Care Services.
Values of Care.
Worker Relationships.
Confidentiality.
Communicating Effectively.
Recognising and Responding to Abuse.
Moving and Handling (2 parts - theory and moving objects)

Edgeworks Add Offline Course Functionality

Edgeworks has now added the capability to track and administrate classroom based practical courses through the Care Academy.

No induction programme can be complete without the inclusion of some form of practical training activities - such as Moving and Handling and First Aid.

The Care Academy includes the ability to integrate your existing training centre programmes into the Induction process. Trainers, administrators and managers can see when carers are booked on training centre days and by using the course sequencing can review whether they have successfully completed the pre-requisite online courses.

This approach allows training centre days to focus totally on practical training - potentially reducing the time spent away from the workplace.

We can also supply guidance on training centre day activities - whether practical Moving and Handling or First Aid or additional group exercises around Values of Care, Worker Relationships, Recognising and Responding to Abuse or Person Centred Planning.
