Adult Services - Supported Living Care Induction

The programme is based on the Skills For Care Combined Induction Standards, based on a supported living service setting:

  • Understanding principles of care.
  • Understanding the organisation and role of the worker.
  • Maintaining safety at work.
  • Communicating effectively.
  • Recognising and responding to abuse and neglect.
  • Developing as a worker.

The Supported Living Induction programme contains an introductory unit on Supported Living and an extra "Your Role As A Carer" unit, focusing on the key role of Social and Practical Care provision.

In addition to the Combined Induction Standards, the Care Academy has developed materials to cover five Skills For Care Underpinning Knowledge Sets and additional units, to ensure that your Induction programme is focused on delivering a high quality service to the people you support. These units include:

Underpinning Knowledge Sets

  • Understanding Dementia.
  • Non-Care Workers.
  • Infection Control.
  • Medication.
  • Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults.

Additional Units

  • Safe Food Handling.
  • Introduction to Learning Disabilities.
  • Introduction to Mental Health.
  • Introduction to Children's Services.
  • Death, Dying and Bereavement.
  • Effects of the Service Setting.

This material is broken down into 9 online units, each with a target learning time of 1½ to 2 hours.
